Welcome in
Manawa nui – we reach out and welcome in
Thought prompt:
Marama is looking forward to her first day with Te Pūkenga, having been appointed to the role of tutor, facilitating online classes across the network. While excited to remain living in Kaitaia, she recognises the challenge of building connection with her colleagues across the network. Marama’s additional responsibilities of supporting Maori ākonga in her region was something that attracted her to the role but she is uncertain about where to start.
James was delighted to receive an offer of appointment from Te Pūkenga and is looking forward to starting but remains apprehensive about his change of career. He will soon be moving cities to begin his new role, and this is the first time James and his family have moved.
Think about:
- How we acknowledge and welcome all new staff reflective of our Te Pūkenga values.
- How we ensure kaimahi feel connected if they work remotely.
- Supporting kaimahi settling into more then just a new job — sometimes a new sector, a new community, or even a new vocation.
